A number of improvements were already installed when the house was bought including insulated loft, floor, hot water tank and water pipes and it was double glazed.

Solar hot water heating was installed in 2006 and Photovoltaic panels in 2011.

The property also includes a wood burner, Thermostatic Radiator Valves (TRV’s), Water Softening to reduce limescale build up and Chemical inhibitors to help maintain the central heating system efficiency.

Low energy light bulbs (CFL's) are used together with low energy appliances such as a microwave, wind up torch, fridge and washing machine.

The rain water is harvested into multiple water butts and used extensively

The garden is wildlife friendly and includes a food growing section, home composting, chickens, bees. In addition they own an allotment and make full use of recycling facilities.
