This late 1950's built semi detached bungalow has installed the following measures:

Insulation: Cavity Wall insulation installed in 2011. Ceiling made of insulation tiles. Hot water tank insulated and lining all curtains for insulation.

Glazing: Double glazing was installed when we moved in, 1988.

Lighting: Low Energy Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFL’s) are used.

Appliances: A range of low and no energy appliances are used.

Solar thermal panels were installed in the early 1990's and PV panels installed 2012.

Water: Waste water piped to garden, Wheelie bin makes a water butt, rainwater harvesting.

Front garden now a woodland with fruit. Back garden now used to grow fruit and veg. All garden and kitchen waste is composted. Broken fridge/freezers make good garden benches with storage space.
Trying to make a pond for resident frog. Planted a willow hedge
Hope to make willow fencing and tool storage, maybe even a motorbike cover. Have always lived economically and sustainably. Avid Freecycler.
